Setting up email aliases is one of the best "hacks" in Google Workspace. It allows you to look like a much larger operation by having addresses like billing@, sales@, and support@ all delivered to your one primary inbox at no extra cost.
Here is how to set them up and, more importantly, how to send mail from them.

Part 1: Create the Alias in Google Admin
This step tells Google to accept mail sent to the new address.
Log in to the Google Admin Console.
Go to Directory > Users.
Click on your name/user account (the primary one you just created).
On the left-hand side, look for the User Information section and click it to expand.
Find the row labeled Alternate email addresses (email alias) and click the pencil icon to edit.
In the Alternate email field, type your desired prefix (e.g., hello or sales).
Ensure your domain is selected in the dropdown.
Click Save.
[!NOTE]You can add up to 30 aliases for a single user for free. Any mail sent to these addresses will now appear in your main inbox automatically.
Part 2: Sending Mail "From" the Alias
By default, if you reply to an email sent to sales@yourdomain.com, Google will reply from your primary address. To reply as the alias, follow these steps:
Open your Gmail inbox.
Click the Settings (gear icon) in the top right > See all settings.
Go to the Accounts and Import tab.
Find the section Send mail as: and click Add another email address.
A yellow pop-up window will appear:
Name: Enter the name you want people to see (e.g., "Sales | Your Company Name").
Email address: Enter the alias you just created (e.g., sales@yourdomain.com).
Treat as an alias: Keep this box checked.
Click Next Step. Since you are the owner of the account, it will usually verify automatically without needing a code.
Pro Tip: Back in the "Accounts and Import" settings, look for the section "When replying to a message." Select "Reply from the same address the message was sent to." This ensures that if someone emails sales@, your reply automatically comes from sales@.
Part 3: Organizing Your Inbox (Optional but Recommended)
Since all these emails are hitting one inbox, it can get messy. You can use Filters to keep things organized.
In Gmail, click the Show search options icon (the sliders) in the search bar.
In the To field, type your alias (e.g., sales@yourdomain.com).
Click Create filter.
Check Apply the label and choose New label. Name it "Sales."
Now, every email sent to that alias will be automatically tagged with a "Sales" label on the left-hand side of your Gmail.
How to test your setup
To make sure everything is working, send an email from a personal account (like a private @gmail.com or @outlook.com) to your new alias. If it arrives in your inbox and you can reply to it using the alias name, you are officially set up.
